To reminisce
the past, honor our tradition and continue the tenacious
spirit of this great hallmark...
In June of 2001, Winter Place LLC was founded by Paul
Licari for the purpose of purchasing Locke-Ober, with
partner nationally renowned Chef Lydia Shire.
Eighteen
months earlier, November of 1999, Shire had introduced
Licari to Locke-Ober by inviting him to
lunch there. Clearly in love with the room Shire
was hopeful that someday they would rescue it.
Following that memorable lunch, and many months of planning and determination the dream came true. Locke-Ober was purchased.
An intense effort to restore Locke-Ober began in
August of 2001. While the months were short between
the closing
and reopening on November 16th 2001, the details
were not. The generous hand of architect Adam Tihany
made
minimal, but tasteful touches to the common and dining
areas, while updated mechanical systems were being
implemented behind the scenes.
Locke-Ober currently utilizes its Main Dining Room
and Lounge on the first floor and the Ober and Camus
rooms on the second. In addition there are six third
floor private dining rooms. These intimate private
rooms (seating 2-16) best exemplify the rich mystique
of years past. From high profile political meetings
to romantic proposals, these rooms occupy a unique
place in the history of hospitality. The JFK room
is still the most sought after of the six rooms.
The adjoining
club known as Yvonne’s is also in use for private
events, serving as many as two hundred guests.
Lydia Shire in charge of Locke-Ober’s culinary
legacy with Chef Mario Capone has accomplished what
she had always envisioned, preserving the legacy
while adding her creative genius to the menu. Alongside
her
dynamic cuisine, lies the sensational ambiance of
this monument to art, history, and Boston itself.
As managing
general partner Licari oversees an exciting five
hundred label wine list, a professional front of
the house
staff and a comprehensive private dining operation
with the help of several extraordinary managers:
Director of Sales and Marketing - Adrienne L. Andreae, Private
Dining - Quelo Cohen, and Restaurant Manager -
Nicole Perry. Director of Sales and Marketing – Eve Piza, Private Dining - Quelo Cohen, and Restaurant Manager – Luis Vasquez.
Locke-Ober is proud to acknowledge the continued
service of several outstanding employees: Tony
Accardi has
been with the company for 40 years, Frank Carballeria
for 39 and Quelo Cohen for 20.
